Beyond Bali
In 2013, I headed to Indonesia to spend two months exploring Bali during December and January. It was an adventure that had a far greater impact on me than I could ever have imagined, acting as a total break from the anxiety that was weighing heavily on me.
During those months, I travelled around this extraordinary island, swimming, rambling about the jungle and learning about the rich culture and history of these Balinese people. I headed to the Gili islands and took a freediving course with Freedive Gili, again, an experience that had a huge impact on me. Freediving is diving on one breath, but really, it's a mental activity where there is no room for anxiety. In fact, the breathing techniques I learnt have allowed me to manage my anxiety in all manner is situations in the years since.
